What? You are Taking That…Snowbirding Packing and Shopping

Every year we go we find we pack less and take less.

Biggest tips for Snowbirding

Especially before buying property check out an area in all the seasons. If just wintering there check out the area maybe staying there with someone else (other than snowbirds), talk to others who head south to that area. Schedule a week or more to visit different areas prior to a extended stay and make sure it is in the month you would book the extended stay.

If you are flying and want a rewards card American Airlines flys into the panhandle in Florida and can bypass Chicago which often is closed for snowy weather when you are trying to fly from snowy North Dakota or Minnesota. Sharon’s packing list

at 10:15 into the video Sharon recommends accidently to go to an obstetrician for perscription glasses, she meant to say optrometrist, opps!

Sharon packs peanut butter, jelly, cheese, spices (lots), vinegars: red wine, white wine,balsamic

garbage bags and a Big ASS clock, Sharon shows it at 10:45 into the video, Sharon also likes to take a paper calendar

Office supplies: paper pens games stapler scotch tape scissor address book

Personal care items: shampoo conditioner, body wash, beach towels, sun hat

Tech items: computers, tablets, an Echo

Sharon’s shopping list when she arrives in Florida

milk, bread, coffee, creamer, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, olive oil, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, flour, sugar, rice, paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, paper plates

Suzy Packing list

Spices are expensive so I pack (take smaller containers or use clear small pouches labeled, Hobby Lobby sells little bags for jewelry that work great for spices) Bay leaf. Cajun Spice mix, Cayenne pepper, Celery seed, Chili powder, Chinese pepper, Cilantro, Cinnamon, Cumin, Garlic powder, Onion powder, Italian sausage mix Oregano, Paprika, Red pepper flakes, Rosemary, Sausage mix,Thyme, Turmeric, dryer sheets, sandwich bags, quart size bags, tin foil, wax paper meds,

If flying

Suzy sends with someone driving, (Sharon) a tub with the items listed above and a small amount of flour, brown sugar enough to make one or two batches of baked goods usually chocolate chip cookies.

A lighter weight jacket that can double for use in rain

If driving

Suzy packs a cooler and carries a 32 ounce water thermos,one puffy jacket and a bunch of other clothes and shoes, because clothes and shoes are fun.

Suzy packs colored wash clothes, bath robe, beach hats and towels. Bath and body air fragance holders and fragrance

Kitchen supplies and tools: one good sharp knife she likes the Pampered chef brand, one mini electric food chopper, scissors, meat tendenrizer, ground meat chopper, mini frypan

Camp chairs for use at festivals and outings

Driving or flying

Clothing flip flops, sandals, boots, tennis shoes at least 2 pairs of jean capris, 2 pairs of atheletic leggings and 2 of athletic capris, 2 skorts, three no sleeve shirts, 18 pairs of panties, 2 swimsuits, two dresses, asst jackets and hoodies, one Sckappez (scarf/cape Suzy makes) assemble tops and items so I have at least three (only one if flying) cold weather items (layers sweater, tshirt ) and 10 or more items for moderate 60 to 70″s temps , electronics like ipad, computer, kindle

Suzy’s Shopping List

If she flys in she stops and buys inexpensive camp chairs to use at local festivals and leaves behind when she leaves.

upon arrival Oatmeal Almonds/nuts frozen strawberries frozen pineapple frozen blueberries Produce bananas, green onions, celery, carrots, lettuce, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, potatoes,peppers Canned items chickpeas, green chilies, black beans, tomatoes diced/unsalted, evaporated milk Other items cooking oil, vinegar, Quinoa Dairy case cheeses,eggs, whipped cream, butter, sauerkraut, kombocha, triscuts Meats ground turkey, beyond burgers, chicken sausage, chicken, turkey sliced from deli, Paper goods and personal care items I didn’t pack
