Great Lakes Aquarium Duluth Minnesota
My first thought is who wants to see a bunch of fish that we catch in the lake during summer and eat. Experiencing aquariums with ocean life, how could a Midwest aquarium possibly compare? Here is where I was so wrong. We had a group of 12 consisting of myself and my husband, our 4 adult children, their partners and our three grandsons under 6 years old. Everyone loved the aquarium!
You will see
As you work your way past the immense wall of mesmerizing flowing wall of water, there is several exhibits, tanks, interactive areas and a gift shop.
In the tanks, the not only had native Great Lakes fish and Midwest fish, such as rainbow trout, lake trout, sunfish, bass and muskies the aquarium also had other species like a zebra shark, seahorses, jellyfish and a 60-pound electric eel! We were able to watch a diver go into a tank to clean a tank. These divers volunteer to do this.
Tank of Sturgeons
The sturgeon tank is a touch tank, yes, you can go and touch the sturgeons which look like something from prehistoric times. Did someone say prehistoric? Yes dinosaurs, they have fossils and exhibits about these prehistoric creatures.
A unique display that is scheduled for updating is the lava flow, very fun to watch.
The Otter cove had a children’s interactive area where the boys were able to float some boats. They loved this!
Aquarium Hours
The Aquarium is opened daily 10am to 6pm.
